Seven suspected robbers arrested in Mukono

THE Police in Mukono are holding seven men on suspicion of terrorising the district during the Christmas and New Year festive period.

THE Police in Mukono are holding seven men on suspicion of terrorising the district during the Christmas and New Year festive period.

Mukono Police station chief Erias Kasirabo said the men were arrested from a hideout with suspected stolen property.

“We surrounded them at their hideout in a bushy swamp behind Mukono town industrial area and arrested them.”

He identified them as Kiiza, Mpungu, Kityo, Muhwezi, Yasiin, Adibaku and Mubiru, all residents of Mukono district. He added that their second names were difficult to establish because they kept changing them.

They were allegedly found with sharp knives.

The arrest comes after two robberies in the town.

In one incident, Peter Sebukule, a teacher at Ntebe secondary school, was robbed at an illegal roadblock manned by the thugs.

The other, was when a shop on Bugerere road was broken into and property worth sh10m was stolen.
