SIR — On Wednesday, The New Vision published a story entitled “Otafiire halts Centenary Parkâ€. The minister’s statement is well-intentioned.
If only he had been living and driving in Kampala from the Grand Casino to Garden City, he would have issued the directive much earlier.
It comes a little too late after the foundations of concrete structures have been made. What is needed is a law that will make it illegal for firms to dupe local authorities with plans which they later modify.
Firms whose construction works are stopped at such a stage could seek legal redress, which won’t be cheap to either party. The local authority should ensure developers only stick to the approved plans.
