FUFA is sympathetic for banned Boroboro FC’s Bob Obira although they cannot reverse the one year decision on the player.

Competitions committee secretary Moses Magogo said the federation had engaged its disciplinary wing to investigate Obira’s allegations that Villa players insulted him before he punched Jeremiah Ssebuyira at Namboole December 29.

Magogo (left) said that although the referee and match commissioner reports were not conclusive, they relied on them as the only evidence available. He said that they will not reverse the decision because it was within the rules governing the league.

Obira was handed a one-year ban for punching Ssebuyira.

“Debates about the incident and the subsequent decision are healthy. But whereas there could have been a shortfall, it was within rules. I don’t think the decision can be reversed,” Magogo told the press on Wednesday.

Obira claims that he punched Ssebuyira because the player persistently referred to him as Aduyi (enemy) and Kony (the LRA rebel leader).
