THE national netball team starts training for the Africa Zone-5 Senior Challenge Cup at Nakivubo on Thursday.

THE national netball team starts training for the Africa Zone-5 Senior Challenge Cup at Nakivubo on Thursday.

She Cranes coach, Margaret Bisereko has summoned 18 players to start drills.

According to the netball technical committee officer Betty Naava, the team will be trimmed after a week of trials.

Zanzibar will host the Challenge Cup that was last held in Nairobi in 2005.

So far, only four countries from Zone-5— Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zanzibar — have confirmed participation in the regional bonanza.

Organisers have also invited power-houses South Africa, Malawi and Zimbabwe from Zone 6 to boost the tournament.

The team invited: A. Nakiwu, F. Amungin, F. Amono, P. Nabbosa, M. Soigi, H. Apako, J. Nakimuli, C. Namayanja, E. Adokorach, P. Namugerwa, B. Namukasa, L. Ajio, Z. Kizza, D. Mirembe, M. Nakaziba and S. Semakula.
