Shifting talks venue is only a waste of precious time

SIR — When the peace talks between the government and the LRA started last year, many people were optimistic that salvation for northern Uganda was finally here.

SIR — When the peace talks between the government and the LRA started last year, many people were optimistic that salvation for northern Uganda was finally here.

Seeing the rebels rub shoulders with the Ugandan delegation in Juba, one felt that some peaceful resolution to the 20-year-long conflict was finally coming to an end.

A lot of time was wasted in drafting endless programmes and that is regrettable. I do not think that shifting the talks to South Africa or Kenya or even outside Africa is the solution.

There is lack of goodwill on the part of the rebels and gross superiority complex on the part of the government. Now that the rebels have decided to waste the chance, the Government cannot afford to risk more suffering of its people and must do whatever it takes to crush them.

Every peace-loving countryman must offer a hand in this. together, we can make LRA history, and I know President Museveni can deliver on this.
