NTUNGAMO - Over 300 cyclists led by their chairman, Sam Kategaya, staged a peaceful demonstration on Wednesday protesting the increased monthly tax. Kategaya presented a memorandum to Protazio Tigurihwayo, the resident district commissioner. The cyclists wanted to know why the leaders were defying the President by heavily taxing them. Tigurihwayo promised to quickly solve their problem.

Bank urges people to save

KABAROLE - Since incomes increased after the Government scrapped graduated tax, Ugandans should keep the savings in the banks. Stephen Mukweli, the Post Bank chief, said the savings would help them on a rainy day. Mukweli was speaking at a promotion of the bank’s savings and children’s accounts held at Kijura Tea Growers Company on Friday. He urged the employees to open savings accounts with the bank.
