ACHIEVEMENTS are worth celebrating. So when WBS TV made eight years in the local broadcasting industry, the station treated its staff and guests to a cocktail at the Hotel Africana poolside on a Friday night.

WBS started in February 1999, covering about 120km radius. Eight years down the road, it has expanded to Masaka, Jinja, Mbarara, Fort Portal, Mbale and Tororo. Last year, WBS was connected to the internet through Jump TV. Such are some of the achievements that prompted the station to celebrate.

“By the end of this year, we shall have expanded to cover districts of Bushenyi, Kabale and northern Uganda,” announced Kenneth Kazooba, the station manager.

Guests were treated to performances from artistes like Red Banton, Junior Pliers, Desire Luzinda, Bebe Cool, Buchaman and the Obsessions. Managing director Gordon Wavamuno proved that he is a big fan of Annet Nandujja.

When Bebe Cool sampled his latest single, a duet with the Folk Pop songstress, Wava challenged the First Deputy Premier, Eriya Kategaya, to a dance session. Wava’s antics awed the minister.
