RUKUNGIRI-The Aids Support Organisation (TASO) is extending its antiretroviral treatment programme to villages. According to the TASO branch chief, Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa, the strategy will use lay persons and community leaders to administer the drugs. He told participants at a workshop at the district town hall that clients in the pilot areas would not have to visit TASO clinics for treatment. Rutahigwa added that the measure would address the problems faced by very sickly clients or those who are too poor to travel.

KABAROLE-Transport problems at Kabarole Hospital should become less after Catholic Relief Services, a charity, donated a double-cabin pick-up truck to help in the delivery of health services to rural areas. It was handed over on Friday by the charity’s country representative, Benjamin Phillips, at the hospital premises.
