SASAKAWA Global 2000 has constructed a One-Stop-Centre (OSC) for farmers engaged in apiary and sorghum production in Pallisa.

OSC is a community-based organisation run by a village or group of villages. It is managed by a committee elected by the community members to buy, store and sell produce when the price is favourable to the villagers and the buyers.

Agriculture minister, Hillary Onek and Nelson Gagawala, the trade state minister, commissioned the sh45m centre located in Kadama sub-county.

Onek cautioned the organisations helping the rural people in fighting poverty to advise farmers to adopt enterprises that are not costly.

“Farmers should develop a saving culture,” he said.

Battson Kayaayo, the programme coordinator, said they had established several OSCs in the countryside.
