IN a bid to tame motorcross national championship leader Arthur Blick, rivals Natan Asaf and Orland Barrak have purchased super bikes worth sh29m each.

Barrak and Uganda Sports Press Association rider of the year Asaf yesterday unveiled the two Yamaha YZ 450cc bikes ahead of Sunday’s race that promises to be a thriller at Garuga.

The robust machines were the centre of attraction at the launch of the event at Quality Cuts in Nsambya yesterday.

“They are the latest machines on the market. I want to test their performance,” vowed Israeli Barrack.

The entry of the bikes spices up the race in the open category at the re-designed Uganda Motorcross Racing Circuit.
The top six riders in each category will earn slots on the national team that will take on Kenya in the first leg of the East African motorcross championship in Kampala next month.

In the meantime, Uganda Motorcross Club has staked a motorbike as top prize for boda-boda riders in the event.
The sh2m worth Lifan 125cc machine will go to the winner in the 50cc, 80cc and 125cc category.

The boda-boda contest is to promote safety among riders in Kampala, according to the event organisers.
