Mirundi, talk sense!

SIR — I was incensed by Tamale Mirundi’s demenour and empty arguments about the proposed degazetting of Mabira forest. He simply had nothing to say on Issues at Hand on WBS except parroting President Yoweri Museveni’s views.

How do you replant a natural forest and in aid of what? It is irritating that no matter how important a national issue may be, loyalty to the President (or job?) comes first! It is a shame that as late as this there should still be a debate about the invaluable status of Mabira.

Why are we behaving as if we are the first and the last generation to occupy Uganda? One day, some people will answer for this recklessness!

SIR — what is so special about the Mabira land that the Mehta Group cannot grow sugarcane anywhere else? Nationally and internationally people have bitterly advised against degazetting Mabira but a few people are hell-bent to destroy it! Now the in-thing is to demonise the opposition! Is this the much-hyped ‘fundamental change’?
