The NRM caucus will this week debate the Government’s proposal to give part of Mabira Forest to Mehta, Ndorwa West MP David Bahati has revealed. He called for a peaceful and constructive debate on the matter. Bahati urged those opposed to the suggestion to be patient as MPs prepare to debate the issue. He was on Saturday commissioning Muguri gravity water flow scheme in Rubaya. The sh90m project was funded by Kigezi Diocese. The diocesan engineer, the Rev. Can. George Bagamuhunda, said the scheme would benefit over 1,500 people.

Wilson Watira, a candidate contesting for the district LC5 seat, has pledged to promote education, commercial agriculture and rural electrification. “Without education, we shall remain under- developed. The free primary and secondary education programmes were some of the projects I had embarked on when I was the interim chairman. Once you elect me, I will pick from where I stopped,” he told a rally in Bushika sub-county on Tuesday. Watira, an NRM candidate, is facing independents; Solomon Ngati and Wafutsayo Wambi.
