Scream
When someone is kidnapping you, scream as loud as you can! Scream “Help” or “This is not my parent.”

Run
Run, Run, Run!!! Get away any chance you get, for example, when the car stops to get petrol.

If an abductor takes you to a public place
If you are in public place (where there are many people), run to another adult. Be insistent that someone calls the police.

Fight back
Hitting, kicking and scratching are all right if you are being kidnapped.

Getting into someone’s car
Never get into someone’s car without your parents’ direct approval. Even if you know the adult, get your parents’ approval to get into their car.
Do not go near people asking for help. For example, if someone in a car asks for directions to a certain place, run away from the car in the opposite direction the car is facing.

Recognise a kidnap attempt
Understand what may be an attempt to kidnap you. Do not get into someone’s car or allow an adult to befriend you without your parents’ approval. Don’t be fooled by how nice someone is!
Do not accept any gift — sweets, food, toys, drugs, money — from strangers. (A stranger is someone you do not know.)

If someone has put you into the boot of a car
Find a button that you can press to open the boot. Sometimes there is a glow in the dark handle to pull. Other times you may need to find tools in the boot to break the back lights. When you break the back lights, push out your hand and keep waving. The kidnapper will not see, but others will.
