WORLD soccer governing body FIFA has approved all contracts for the FUFA technical centre, and construction work starts on May 21. It is the second phase of the FIFA Goal project

FIFA regional development officer Ashford Mamelodi arrives on May 19 to meet contractors and technical officials and thereafter sign the documentation for the $400,000 (sh688m) project before construction starts.

The project, at Njeru in Jinja for training and improving football in the country, will have a hostel, playing field, executive rooms, conference hall, medical facilities and gym.

“National teams will camp there to save costs,” explained FUFA executive officer Charles Masembe.

Meanwhile, the German youth coaches’ instructor, Jochen Figge, started a one-week training workshop on Monday at FUFA House Mengo.
