NATIONAL Council of Sports (NCS) yesterday met the feuding Uganda cricket officials and advised them to work together.

The two-hour meeting at Lugogo Guest House chaired by council chairman Wilson Tumwine concluded that it was uncoordinated actions by the executive that caused all the confusion. NCS dismissed accusations by both parties of mismanagement of funds.

Cricket officials Davis Turinawe and Timothy Kiwagama had written to council calling for their intervention over alleged abuse of office by their chairman William Kibuuka-Musoke. Kibuuka-Musoke had dismissed the allegations and in turn written to the IGG asking for an investigation on the treasurer and organising secretary over alleged abuse of office.

“There is peace, I can say. We found out that all the allegations lacked facts. It was because some officials were not getting full information which created a vacuum,” explained Tumwine after the meeting.

He said that they had to call the meeting that urgently after reading what was taking place in the press, yet the team was also preparing for the Division III ICC World Cricket League that starts May 27 in Darwin, Australia.

“A communication gap creates unnecessary tension. There was no misappropriation of funds as the receipts and other documents confirmed expenditures,” explained Tumwine.

The meeting was attended by council members Raphael Ouma, Kennedy Mutenyo and Chris Mugisa together with general secretary Jasper Aligawesa. Kibuuka-Musoke, Kiwagama and Turinawe were also present at the meeting.
