CHILDREN do you know who an orphan is? An orphan is a child whose mother or father or both parents have died.

Last Saturday, Jeremiah Tenywa a three-year-old orphan, was reunited with his grandmother. Jeremiah was born in Jinja on December 7, 2004. His father died and his mother abandoned him by the roadside.

Luckily, Jeremiah was taken by a good Samaritan to Welcome Home ministries orphanage in Jinja. (An orphanage is place where children without parents are taken care of.)

After spending three years in the orphanage, Jeremiah was reunited with his grandmother. Welcome Home ministries made a big party for Jeremiah before taking him to his grandmother’s place. Jeremiah wore a paper gown on which children wrote nice messages for him.

He cut a big cake and shared it with them. He was also given five blankets, a mattress, clothes, shoes, books, two mosquito nets, pencils, colours and a Bible to take to his new home.

His grandmother was given money to look after him and take him to school.
