LASZLO Csaba gets an opportunity to determine solutions to Cranes defensive troubles when Uganda engages Tanzania’s Taifa Stars in a build up today.

The German tactician will spend every minute of the friendly at Nakivubo trying to unearth a perfect stand-in for suspended first team defender Andrew Mwesigwa.

“The only problem I have now is deciding which player will replace Andy (Mwesigwa). For me that is the big problem. The game will specifically be used to resolve that,” Csaba stressed yesterday.

Csaba will first examine whether Ethiopian-based defender Hassan Wasswa and Richard Malinga offer a perfect ‘plan B’ in the central defensive area.

The 42-year old will then be in position to decide who among the two will suitably partner Timothy Batabaire. An accomplished right-back, Malinga’s pace, versatility and attacking instincts have made him an ideal replacement in any defensive area.

Eugene Ssepuuya is the other player who will be determined to impress Csaba with the hope of securing a wild card into next week’s starting team in the do-or-die Nations cup qualifier with Nigeria at Namboole.

The former SC Villa striker had recently been criticised for being unfit.
Csaba will also assess the movement and reaction of his charges in the final third of the pitch.

Uganda is second in Group Three of the qualifying campaign with four points behind leaders Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Nigeria Football Supporters Club-Uganda chapter is to import 200 fans to cheer the Super Eagles.

The supporters club is also mobilising another 100 fans from the West African community living in Uganda to turn up for the match.

“A lot of fans are coming with drums and trumpets to cheer the Super Eagles. And we are sure of success because this game means a lot to us,” chairman of the fans in Uganda, Folder Dare said on Thursday.

“No Ugandan should even dream of a win for the Cranes. If it happens, I will host the Cranes to a lavish party at my residence”.
