Today Uganda v Tanzania JOEL Olweny inspired Uganda to a 94 run victory against Hong Kong to make a perfect start in the Division Three World Cricket League here yesterday.
The captain for the side was in a pectacular batting form hitting 60 off 92 balls before returning with the ball to claim three priceless wickets.
Batting first, Uganda had a slow start with 49 runs in 20 overs after openers Arthur Kyobe (08) and Roger Mukasa (00) were dismissed early.
Olweny then applied talent and experince with Benjamin Musoke (48) for a fourth stand of 86 runs to stabilise the ship for victory.
Junior Kwebiiha (39) and Kenneth Kamyuka (22) also played sensibly as Uganda set the opponents 221 runs to win.
Known for their splendid fielding and bowling, Sam Walusimbi's boys did not disappoint as they claimed two early wickets to set Hong Kong in panic.
Kamyuka (2-20) and Charles Waiswa (3-17) did the early spoils restrciting Hong Kong to 52-5 in 15 overs.
Man-of-the-match Olweny (3-14) also wasted no time with the ball as Uganda wrapped up the opponents for a pathetic 126 with 13.1 overs at hand. Uganda takes on Tanzania today in another expected thriller.
