Dear Doctor,
I am 30 years old and have tried to get pregnant for the last six months without success. I do not have money to see a gynaecologist. What can I do? I am so desperate.
Faridah

Dear Faridah,
You are getting worried too soon! It is not every time that a woman has sex with a man that she becomes pregnant. A woman can only become pregnant in only about five days in the month. Doctors begin to investigate infertility if a couple fails after a year.

You do not need to worry. Worrying will just decrease your chances. At 30, if everything else is okay, you can become pregnant. You can try to pinpoint your fertile days. Having sex on those days increases chances of pregnancy.

You may visit a midwife or counsellor and discuss that issue. You do not need a doctor if you do not have any other complaint, but consultation is free in government hospitals.
