SIR —What does the Government say about the continuous land wrangles in almost every part of the country? Many people have died while others have lost their lives in land conflicts. For example, recently, an old woman in Arua called Namulisis was strangled by some relatives who wanted to chase her out of her land. what does the government say about such an issue?

There are many other cases which go unreported. In west nile, people kill each other often over land as if there is no law in the country! This is partly due to the rampant corruption and poor land use policies. Many people do not have land titles and this leads to a lot of confusion and conflict. Since the population is increasing very fast, many more land wrangles are likely to arise. The Government must address the issue by revising the system of land tenure.
