The health ministry should elevate Kawolo Hospital to a referral one, the vice-chairman, Livingstone Zziwa, has said.
Zziwa said since Kawolo is
situated on the Kampala-Jinja highway, it handles more patients yet the hospital lacks enough staff, equipment and drugs.
“In case of a fatal accident, drugs that could have lasted a month are used in a week, yet it is not possible to make a requisition for the remaining period,†he said.
Zziwa was speaking during a tour of St. Elizabeth’s Institute of Health Professionals at Gulu, in Mukono, recently.
He said the district would sponsor 100 medical students in comprehensive nursing and laboratory assistants to increase staff at Kawolo Hospital.
