Fatima,
I would like you to assist me on the following business challenges.

1. I would first like to get tips on how to start the marketing campaign for my cosmetics brand.
How should I create maximum awareness of the brand?
2. I have soap products designed for hotels and lodges. How do I determine a price for these products as they are smaller in size compared to conventional soap products but they are of high quality?
3.What of licences and taxes for this sort of venture?
Fredric

Dear Fredric

Marketing campaign - you need to first have a brand strategy to understand what it is about your product that separates it from the rest.
What is the unique selling point.
There after, you should then work on a communications campaign that will bring out the differences and why a consumer should pick your brand.
There are good advertising agencies in town that can help you and you can look them up.
In regards to the soap product, the above applies in terms of what does your soap offer that is different from the rest.
Low price does not necessarily mean an easy entry as it can also reflect otherwise about the quality.
You will have to decide what to price your product after taking into account your total production cost and what you wish to have as the net realisation.
I have no idea in regards to licenses and taxes for the same, but the Uganda Revenue Authority or the Uganda Manufacturers Association could be a good start or UMA for advice.

However, I wish you all the best.

Fatima

Dear Fatima
I am planning to start a mineral water bottling firm. In fact, as I read your article, I started to think about what I can add to the product to make it more attractive to the market.
I will need your advice in this regard.
Eddie Luyima

Dear Eddie
Yes, mineral water is definitely a saturated market.
And it definitely will also be a challenge unless you are able to have a proper strategy to stand out.
First and foremost, I hope you know there is a difference between mineral water, still water, drinking water etc.
This is where people take consumers for a ride. So you need to be very clear with what your offering will be.
Secondly, you need to look at all the competitors in the market and see how you can differentiate yourself i.e in packaging, in the offering... possibly consider flavoured water to add joy into drinking.
I hope this helps you and gives you some direction.
Regards
Fatima
