EDITOR—It is a great shame to the UPDF that soldiers, their wives and children perished not in the line of duty but in a a vehicle which was in a poor mechanical condition. It is common to see soldiers transported in lorries that are in physically poor shape.

Even small schools own buses for students today. How can a big institution like the UPDF, with a huge budget, not make provision for decent transport especially when the soldiers are not at war? Is this the modernisation of the UPDF we have often been hearing about?
