THE National Open boxing championship that was due to start later this month is now set for January 20-27.
The championship, held in Kampala, is used to pick the national boxing team-The Bombers.
Acting secretary of boxing governing body UABF Charles Kiiza, said the delay will enable participants have more time to prepare themselves.
“It is unfortunate we do not have a national team now. Our main focus will be to select a strong team for the last Olympic qualifiers in Namibia,†said Kiiza.
UABF is keen to get a team for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
