Leaders should establish and advertise tourism potential in their districts to attract investors, the state minister for trade, Nelson Gagawala, has said.

Gagawala also advised leaders to promote construction of hotels in their districts, saying the tourism sector in Uganda is growing.

“Let us not burden President Yoweri Museveni to do everything in our districts. As leaders you have your responsibilities,” Gagawala said during a meeting of Bushenyi district leaders at Katungu Mothers’ Union Hall.

The consultative meeting, under the theme, “Where is Uganda now in terms of economics, politics and gender development?”, was organised by the district Woman MP, Mary Karooro Okurut.

Gagawala asked the leaders to guide people on production of quality goods, saying the Government had secured markets in China and USA.

He revealed that the two countries would not tax exports from Uganda.

The Bushenyi district chairman, Ndyanabo Longino, said people were getting weary with the delay to release money meant for the Bona Bagaggawale programme.
“Where is the money for Bona Bagaggawale? People are anxiously waiting for it.”
