A UGANDAN living in New York, USA has donated $300 (about sh500,000) to a couple in Jinja that had quintuplets last month.

Jennifer Nabafu, a former employee of the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation, (UBC) sent the money to the authorities in Jinja Municipal Council through Western Union last week.

“She was moved when she read (The New Vision) story on the Internet. She rung the deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, to confirm,” David Naluwairo, the Jinja town clerk said, adding that he got the money on December 22.

“This is really a big heart. We would like to appeal to other wellwishers out there to follow suit,” Naluwairo said as he handed over the cash to the mother of the quintuplets, Dorothy Namunana at Jinja Hospital on Monday.

The town clerk, also contributed a box of soap and 12 kilos of sugar. Namunana, 27, wife of Swaliki Mudubo, a peasant of Busedde sub-county Jinja district, gave birth to the five babies on December 5. They have appealed for assistance to cater for them.
