Masaka Municipality MP John Kawanga was on Friday summoned by the Police to make a statement, following a scuffle between his supporters and an NRM official, over defacing President Yoweri Museveni posters, reports Eddie Ssejjoba.
DP’s Kawanga (above) and mayor Tibyasa Matovu were interrogated for over two hours following a complaint lodged by the Kyanamukaaka NRM chief, Teesi Lwasa, that Kawanga’s supporters defaced museveni posters.

EC petitioned

eight voters from Bubulo West constituency in Mbale have petitioned the Electoral Commission, challenging the nomination of Gyabi Bukeni as a parliamentary candidate.
In the petition, the voters said Bukeni’s nomination was an irregularity since he is a civil servant on interdiction and has not tendered in his resignation. He has also been drawing his salary since September, they said.

CAO rejects

Arua chief administrative officer (CAO) Abdul Isodo has banned the placement of campaign posters at any government office in the district.
Speaking at a district technical planning committee meeting recently, Isodo said public places should be neutral.

Thugs attack

THE windscreens of three vehicles were smashed in two separate incidents in a city suburb and Wakiso district by enraged armed thugs yesterday.
Kira Road Police chief Patrick Echeku said in both incidents, on the Kulambiro-Kisaasi road in Nakawa Division and at Najera in Wakiso, the thugs staged illegal roadblocks then lay in wait in the early hours of Sunday.
No one was hurt in both incidents, the Police said.
