PROMINENT Congolese opposition politician Joseph Olenghankoy has advised Ugandans to vote wisely and avoid bad leadership, which he said led to the collapse of the DRC.

“Because of bad leadership, the military, economy and the social structures of Congo collapsed. I hope Ugandans will remember to vote wisely in their general elections,” the national president of FONUS said.

Olenghankoy, who was the minister of transport in Congo’s transitional government, was last year sacked by president Joseph Kabila.

He praised President Yoweri Museveni for being a pan-Africanist, saying he was following in the footsteps of Patrice Lumumba and Kwame Nkrumah.

“I know there are problems between Uganda and the DRC but what Museveni has done cannot be taken away. Museveni’s pan-Africanist views are a great asset for the region,” he said.

He said he hoped to develop Africa through developing the DRC.
