LOCAL boxing promotion company, Big Strikers International is in final stages of taking on Zimbabwean fighter Farai Musiiwa.

Emmanuel Mwesigwa, a director in the company, revealed yesterday that they were impressed by Musiiwa’s recent show against African champion Badru Lusambya and had decided to enlist him in their stable.

“Musiiwa was also impressed by our management and expressed intentions of joining us,” explained Mwesigwa.

Big Strikers’ part of the deal includes availing Musiiwa with a title fight.

“Talks were finalised. All that remains is for Musiiwa to study our contract and sign,” said Mwesigwa.

Mwesigwa explained that the deal had received the consent of Musiiwa’s manager Boris Znieder.

If the deal finally goes through, Musiiwa will have his main fights in Kampala. Musiiwa gave Lusambya a run for his money but the homeboy triumphed with an eighth round knockout at Nakivubo.

Ugandan champion Festus Omondi is the other fighter in Big Strikers’ stable. Omondi returns to the ring on March 5 at Sabrinas Pub.
This will be an African championship tune-up.
