Children between three and 14 years of age under the YMCA children’s holiday programme camped at Nabinoonya beach for two days. The camp was part of the end of holidays programme.

Children between three and 14 years of age under the YMCA children’s holiday programme camped at Nabinoonya beach for two days. The camp was part of the end of holidays programme.

Over 100 children from various schools attended the camp that ended on Sunday, January, 29, 2006. Children will be going back to school next week.

The deputy secretary general of YMCA, Rosemary Birungi, said that the children’s camp helps them to acquire skills and confidence.

She also said that it encourages self-esteem among the children. It was a lot of fun. The activities included a campfire, poem recitations and short plays.

In the dancing competitions, Herbert Kato was the overall winner on boys’ category and Grace Babirye of Gayaza Junior School took the lead on the girls’ side.

As part of the entertainment, the children also held a swimming gala.
Babirye said that she likes dancing and swimming. She said that she has started training her fellow children in dancing.
