Tanzania’s Alistair Bush won the SN Brussels Uganda Laser Open for the third straight year at Kaazi on Sunday.
Bush, a member of the Dar es Salaam Yacht Club, won the regatta convincingly, taking five of the six races. Kenya’s Donald White (14 points), who finished second in every race except in the fourth which he won, was second overall.

Due to cloudy skies and shifting winds, the seventh and last race was not sailed, tightening Bush’s grip at the top and keeping Victoria Nyanza Sailing Club (VNSC)’s Gordon Bell (19 points) in third place.

“It feels great to win this event. With challenges from the rest of the fleet and the changing winds on the lake, I am glad I could pull this off for a third year,” said Bush.

In the women’s fleet, Rosanna Betts topped the leader board after a bullet, a third and a second in the first three races of the seven-race series.
After settling for third place in the grand masters race, Kenya Laser Association chairperson Sarah Searl finished second behind Betts.

A fleet of 33 boat lasers from Tanzania, Kenya, the United Kingdom, Zimbabwe and Uganda contested for the much-coveted Kaazi Canon in the 19th edition of the Uganda Laser Open where SN Brussels country manager Pierre DeClerck crowned the winners.
VNSC organised the two-day event.
