The Electoral Commission (EC) has suspended elections for the directly-elected District Councillors in the sub-counties in Chema and Kapchorwa town.
The returning officer, Milton Kamalangin, said on Friday there was a mix up in the printing of the candidates’ photographs on the ballot papers.
“Names of candidates did not match the photographs on the ballot papers,” Kamalangin told voters at the district EC offices.
The affected candidates for Chema sub-county were Yolamu Kuka (NRM), Charles Mwanga (independent), Fred Kittis Kitiyo (independent) and Barteka (independent).
Those for Kapchorwa were Joseph Kamuron (FDC), Backson Kapsandui (NRM) and Wilberforce Cherukut Taifa (independent).
“We are yet to announce a new date,” Kamalangin said. He said elections for the Woman councillor for Kwanyiy sub-county had not been held because nominations were not held.
Kapchorwa district council is made up of 20 councillors drawn from the sub-counties.
