Government should remember schools like these

SIR — I was very angry when I read your story “Pupils stunted due to hunger” published on March 27. This statement was made by Mukono Diocese Bishop Paul Luzinda on his pastoral tour of St paul primary school in Mukono.

I was shocked on seeing mud and wattle grass-thatched classrooms. According to the headmistress, since the Government took over, the school has only received 40 desks for more than 300 pupils! She also pointed that because of hunger, the pupils are always yawning and dozing in class.

It is very sad to note that St Paul only heard about first grades in other schools after the release of last year’s PLE results.
I therefore appeal to the Government to have such suffering Ugandans in her memory and revise means of giving them hope.
