The Miss Fort Portal 2006 beauty pageant is on this weekend. The organisers say the contest, which has drawn 12 beauties, will be a far cry from last year’s, which was dull.

Running under the theme, Perfection Above And Beneath The Surface, the pageant is scheduled to take place at Garden Restaurant on Saturday.

Gates open at 6:00pm and entrance for VIPs is sh20,000 and sh5,000 for general seas. Toro queen mother Best Kemigisa will preside over the function.

Artistes like Buchaman of the firebase crew, Nubian Ali, Caser, Banjo man and Jet will preform. The MC is Voice of Toro radio presenter Cliff.

Joan Winfred, the event organiser, says the event has been carefully planned to wipe out the faults that characterised last year’s event when 10 beauties were reduced to clowns.

“The girls have spent over a fortnight in a residential camp at Wooden club hotel, Fort Portal.

They have undergone serious training in all aspects under the watchful eyes of trained chorographers and designers,” Joan says.

Miss Fort Portal 2006 will walk away with a new 21-inch colour TV. She is also expected to spearhead the fight against corruption and also help the needy.

The first runner-up will win a Sony music system while the second runner-up will take home a fully-connected mobile phone.
