WILBROD Oketcho sunk in 20 points as Sadolin Power recovered from a Good Friday 71-68 loss to Marines for an uplifting 70-55 Easter Monday triumph over Charging Rhinos in the MTN basketball league.

Power stormed to a 34-28 first half lead behind Ken Balyejjusa and Richard Balemwa and were ahead 56-45 entering the fourth quarter.
Rhinos who were without centre David Kiberu and coach Mike Mailloux on the bench sought inspiration in Alex Ochola and Mandy Juruni but still came up short.

In the women’s game, Barbara Namukaaya and Hadija Kizza scored 18 points apiece as KIU Rangers breezed to a 57-36 win over Lady Bucks.

Meanwhile beer manufacturers Nile Breweries, under their Castle Lager brand, yesterday boosted A-1 Challenge’s preparations for the East, Central and Southern Africa Club basketball championship with an assortment of kit worth over sh5m.

Castle offered 15 tracksuits, 15 lanyards, 25 pairs of sunglasses and 25 polo shirts for the team.
“As part of our ‘Live Responsibly, Drink Responsibly’ initiative, we are proud to be able to support the ladies during the tournament, because we know basketball reflects teamwork and integrity,” brand manager, Robert Kigula noted as he handed over the package.
