Probe was not about Mukula’s wealth

SIR — I wish to react to the letter “Mukula wealth shows no connection with GF” by Mr. Moses Masaba Wetsenge. It is interesting that Mike Mukula’s wealth has attracted a lot of media attention from the time he appeared before the Global Fund Commission.

SIR — I wish to react to the letter “Mukula wealth shows no connection with GF” by Mr. Moses Masaba Wetsenge. It is interesting that Mike Mukula’s wealth has attracted a lot of media attention from the time he appeared before the Global Fund Commission.

I find the debate and coverage of the wealth or poverty of the minister useless.

The fact that one is rich does not point at one’s financial propriety nor does the fact that one is poor point at financial impropriety. Thus, a rich man can be as crafty as a poor one. In fact, being crafty may have helped a rich man to become rich, in the first place.

Being poor does not make a person necessarily crafty.

Secondly, the Ogoola Commission was not set up to investigate the wealth of the minister but rather to find out how the GF money was used. It is in that capacity that Mukula as one of the ministers in the Ministry of Health was summoned to appear before the Commission.

Let us not mix up issues nor be diverted from them. The Commission is now writing its report, so if deems Mukula innocent it will exonerate him. Otherwise the publication of his assets in the media is a waste of time, space and money.
