AYA Investments yesterday sealed off the premises of the Uganda Broadcasting corporation (UBC) TV and other government offices at Nakasero in preparation for the construction of a $90m hotel.
The other offices include that of information state minister Nsaba Buturo and that of ethics and integrity Tim Lwanga.
Also to be sealed off are several residential quarters of UBC workers.
The 15-acre prime plot was recently allocated to AYA Investments, owned by two Sudanese brothers, to build a hotel that is expected to host delegates during next year’s Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
UBC workers expressed disappointment with the way Government was handling the relocation.
But Buturo said the Government was taking care of everything.
“We have identified the former National Resistance Movement headquarters on the Uganda development corporation House and we shall move there,” Buturo said.
“UBC Television will, however, have to find some space at the Nile Avenue (Radio Uganda) studios,” he added.
Buturo was non-committal on how soon they would relocate.
