SEBEI district Muslim leaders are locked up in a wrangle over a donation of cement and iron sheets that President Yoweri Museveni gave to facilitate the construction of the district mosque.

During a meeting for Muslim leaders in Kapchorwa, the district committee chairman, Siraji Chebet, accused district Khadi Sheikh Musobo of failure to declare Museveni’s donation to the Muslim community.

Chebet told county sheikhs and imams that the delayed declaration of the donation had attracted the attention of ordinary Muslims within the district and officials from State House.

“The President’s Office recently wrote a letter to district officials seeking an explanation on the reception and utility of the donation,” he told the 34 participants at Kapchorwa Farmers Hall.

“This was gross abuse of office. The Khadi should apologise for the sake of his job as an employee of the district Muslim committee,” Chebet said.
