FUFA has organised regional symposiums in a bid to train women football coaches to give prominence to their football at school level.

FUFA vice president in charge of women football Florence Nkalubo disclosed this at the opening of the Bayport Financial Services-sponsored national primary schools championships in Entebbe on Tuesday.

“We are training girls’ coaches. FUFA wants to see girls’ play football at championship level. That is where other countries in the east African region have beaten us,” she said.

Nkalubo said although women football is not vibrant today, FUFA has plans to revive and develop it after discovering lots of talent in the girls.

She pledged support from FUFA in form of balls and seminars to train girls’ coaches.

In the opening matches of the week-long meet, Entebbe recovered from a goal down to beat Kibaale 3-1, Kabarole defeated Mbale in volleyball while in netball, Arua lost to Wakiso. 43 districts are participating the event.

Meanwhile, Kampala United brightened their chances of escaping relegation by swamping hosts Super Cubs 3-0 in a Super League encounter at Wankulukuku yesterday.

United coach Robert Kalule, who went into the game full in the knowledge that a loss would relegate them, saw Robert Ojok put his side ahead in the 52nd minute, before Pius Ngabo and Andrew Ssali sealed the win in the 70th and 80th minutes respectively.
