Rift Valley Railways (RVR) will evaluate whether to acquire the northern railway line from Tororo to Gulu and later Pakwach if they deem it profitable, Uganda Railways Corporation’s (URC) spokesperson E. Zalwango has said.
RVR won the concession to run Kenya and Uganda railways.
“It is the Government’s policy to encourage the URC winner to take up as much of the country’s railways as they can. If it wants to include the northern line, it will be encouraged. If not, others are encouraged to take it up,” Zalwango said.
“Similarly, if RVR finds it worth its running the Kasese line, it will be given priority,” she said.
