SOPHIE Nannyonga and partner Shilla Omuriwe are the 2006 champions of the MTN Rwanda beach volleyball circuit that ended at Kibuye Beach near Kigali yesterday.

SOPHIE Nannyonga and partner Shilla Omuriwe are the 2006 champions of the MTN Rwanda beach volleyball circuit that ended at Kibuye Beach near Kigali yesterday. The pair also won 100,000 Rwandan Francs (sh0.3m).
The two beat Aline Mutabazi and Denife Mukarukunda in straight sets.
“We have made it but it wasn’t easy because many of the rules were new to us,†Nanyonga said.
Meanwhile, world volleyball body FIVB instructor Alema yo Shoakatatek has said Uganda can form great national teams if they acquire the latest volleyball training techniques.
Shoakatatek was speaking at the opening of a weeklong volleyball coaches training at Lugogo yesterday.
