BARCLAYS Bank hosted the print media fraternity to a luncheon at Kampala Serena Hotel to thank them for what they have done for the bank over the years.

If you thought the bankers were only into serious stuff about fiscal policy, share capital, forex rates and other monetary issues, that was not the case at the luncheon last Thursday.

This was a light function; a` tete a` tete with the media personnel, who were as usual cracking jokes.

Most of thhe media people were dressed in T-shirts and casual shirts while the bankers were smart in suits and ties, complete with jackets.

The bankers present included Nick Mbuvi, the managing director of Barclays Bank and the head of corporate affairs, Joseph Walusimbi, who were listening and talking to the “rumour mongers” some of whom were just experimenting on seafoods in lobsters and prawns. Others went for beef and chicken to avoid any shortcomings over the five-course meal.

Lillian Byaruhanga, the bank’s spokesperson, said, Barclays would do this again and again.
