ELDERLY people recently received 50,000pounds (about sh175m) to help them eradicate poverty, reports Kibuuka Lumu.
The donation, from Help Age International (HAI), an NGO based in England, is to help them start income-generating projects. State minister for the elderly and disabilities Sulaiman Madaada revealed this on Friday at the Kayunga district council meeting at Ntenjeru.
“Last week I met some officials of HAI in Cameroon and they pledged to start with 20 districts,” Madaada said.
He said the scheme favours the needy, elderly and the internally displaced persons in the war-ravaged areas.
