HE is that player whose colleagues rarely see at Cranes’ training. He flies in hours to a game, but then fits into any system set up by the coach.

A versatile defender, he then tops it up by consistently putting up man-of-the-match performances.

Sekagya is the rock on which coach Laszlo Csaba is rebuilding Cranes. Csaba has established his side around a solid back four, led by the libero.

“I like the way he moves and reads the game. He is the sort of player you would also shift in defensive midfield,” Csaba says.

Sekagya’s positional sense, ability to read the game and spot where problems might arise, suggests that Cranes will be guaranteed security against what is likely to be an all-out attacking Niger on Sunday.

His form at club level has earned him as much fame as has his on-field discipline. Sekagya has got a single yellow card in this year’s league.

The Ugandan ace is largely responsible for Arsenal de Serandi’s celebrated defensive record that has seen them concede only nine goals in nine games of the high-scoring Argentina championship.
