ABRAHAM Chepkirwok’s bronze medal winning streak at the World Junior Championship in Beijing in August has earned him a training scholarship courtesy of Olympic Solidarity, reports Norman Katende.
The 800m runner was among five athletes, whose scholarships were approved by Olympic solidarity, ahead of the 2012 London Olympic Games.
“It’s the biggest number ever approved for athletics in the country. We are very appreciative and we hope that we will gain much from it,” said Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) secretary Beatrice Ayikoru yesterday.
Chepkirwok, with a personal best 1:45.0 over the 800m distance, is joined by Jackline Cherutwo, Geoffrey Kusuro, Everlyn Amucu and Samuel Egadu.
