Justice Julia Ssebutide, who is currently on UN duties in Sierra Leone, remains a High Court judge, the Judicial Service Commission has said.
Dispelling a report by The Red Pepper, the secretary to the commission, V. Rubarema, said the judge was on leave.
“The lady judge cannot therefore be replaced at the High Court as alleged. Lady justice Ssebutinde is not a justice of the Court of Appeal. The Court of Appeal is different from the Supreme Court. Currently, there is no vacancy of a justice of the Appeal Court,” said Rubarema.
The Red Pepper on Monday published a detailed story, saying Museveni was to appoint judges in which they named four new High Court appointments.
