A businessman has been arrested over examination malpractices.
John Musinguzi was arrested in an operation conducted by the Violent Crime Crack Unit (VCCU) and the Police.

Musinguzi, who runs a computer shop in Wandegeya, a Kampala suburb, was arrested on Wednesday night.

Concerned citizens tipped the security agencies that Musinguzi was printing fake Ordinary Level exams and students had fallen prey.

“He had conned very many students of millions of shillings claiming he was giving them ‘bullets’ (cheating for them exams) yet they were fake examination papers.

“When some students realised that they were purchasing hot air, they contacted us and we swiftly moved in with the Police,” a senior investigative officer attached to VCCU said.

He said several printed copies of fake examination papers and computers were confiscated.
The Wandegeya CID boss, Rashid Obbo, said Musinguzi would be prosecuted.

A total of 172,746 students are sitting for Ordinary Level exams which started on October 13.

The Uganda National Examinations Board secretary, Matthew Bukenya, said cases of examination malpractice that were likely to lead to disqualification of a candidate included copying, external assistance from teachers, prior knowledge of examinations, impersonation, making noise and disobeying supervisors and invigilators during exams.

Bukenya said cases should be reported to the Police and the board.
