Kitty (ENG) bt Ekiring (UGA) 3-0

IT took world 25th ranked star Nicole Kitt to stop Uganda’s Edwin Ekiring’s run in the Dutch International running on in the Netherlands.

The Ugandan star, currently undergoing Olympic training under the 2008 Olympic Solidarity programme, went through the qualifiers with ease. He then went through the first two rounds with straight sets until he fell into Nicole Kitt’s path.

And though he put up a fight against one of the top English ranked players and number 25 in the world, he succumbed in two straight sets 21-10 21-13.

“He is surely improving. With this exposure, he will be ready to win a medal in the Africa championship in Algeria,” explained national coach Simon Mugabi.

The African championships are due December 1-5, but the Uganda Badminton Association is still looking for sh5m to boost their trip. They have so far got some sh7m in assistance.
