THE Democratic Party (DP) will sue Godfrey Nyakaana, the Kampala central division chief, if he does not apologise for banning political rallies at the Constitution Square.

DP President General John Ssebaana Kizito told journalists at the party headquarters in Kabuusu on Tuesday that Nyakaana should not say things that could cause an uprising.

He said, “We hate to see LCs and political leaders getting involved in these wrangles. If Nyakaana does not stop being arrogant, he will face us in court.”
“He must remember that there is a law that governs political parties and their activities. Political parties have a right to assemble.

“Nyakaana, as an LC leader, is governed by the Local Government Act which does not grant him powers to ban political party activities,” he said.

Nyakaana last Monday banned political rallies at the constitution square, saying business people stood to lose property to hooligans who attend such rallies.
