SIR — I read Ofwono Opondo’s article, “Fill gaps in education†published on December 1 but found no substance!
What was the reason behind his telling readers which university President Museveni attended, the course he abandoned and which he took and the great speech he made?
Isn’t this his usual strategy of seeking cheap popularity and favour from the president?
The Makerere University lecturers he so severely criticises and despises play more important roles in national development than Ofwono himself does and whose frequent utterances cannot silence them.
Their demands are legitimate and we would like them to remain people of integrity and highest social standing unless Ofwono wants them to resort to stealing petty things from supermarkets just because the grand corruption and thieves in Government deny them the chance to a dignified and decent living.
